                                    SRM School of Law Hosts 11th Annual Moot Court Competition in Collaboration with NFCG and Ministry of Corporate AffairsSTAFF WRITERThe SRM School of Law, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, successfully hosted the 11th Annual Moot Court Competition from 5 to 7 March 2026, marking another significant milestone in its decadelong tradition of nurturing advocacy, research, and courtroom excellence among law students. The competition was organised in collaboration with the National Foundation for Corporate Governance under the aegis of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, making it the first edition of the competition to be conducted in partnership with these institutions.This year%u2019s competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 36 universities across the country, reflecting its growing national reputation and academic significance. The moot proposition for the 2026 edition focused on emerging regulatory challenges at the intersection of securities law, financial markets, and algorithm-based trading technologies. Participants were required to deliberate on complex legal issues involving automated trading systems, high-frequency transactions, and the role of regulators in overseeing technologically advanced financial markets. The competition was formally inaugurated on March 5, 2026, by G. Rajagopalan, who addressed the participants about the importance of rigorous legal research and advocacy in shaping responsible legal practice. The special address was delivered by V. Venkatesan. As part of the academic engagement, SCC Online conducted a specialised session on legal research techniques and the effective use of digital legal databases, which enabled participants to strengthen their research capabilities.The preliminary rounds were conducted before a distinguished panel of 36 judges, comprising academicians and legal practitioners, who evaluated the teams across multiple court halls. Following the preliminary rounds, the top eight teams advanced to the Quarter Finals, progressing further to the Semi Finals and the Final Round after rigorous judicial evaluation. The Final Round, held on 7 March, was adjudicated by an eminent panel that included Sharad Kumar Sharma, Satish Parasaran, Thriyambak J. Kannan, Ashtawadh Balan and Kesavamoorthy R. Following compelling submissions and rigorous evaluation, KLE Law College, Bengaluru emerged as the Winners, while School of Excellence in Law, Chennai secured the Runners-Up position. The Best Memorial Award was presented to PES Faculty of Law, Bengaluru, while Nithyasree of Saveetha School of Law was recognised as the Best Researcher. The Best Speaker Award was conferred upon S. Princy from Madurai Government Law College.STAFF WRITERThe Department of Physical Education of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Vadapalani Campus, Chennai, organized a State Level Karate Competition on 2nd November 2025.The event was conducted in association with Sensei Martial Arts Academy and Japan Senshu Karate Do India under the guidance of the Directorate of Sports, SRM IST. Mayilvaganan Ramakrishnan, President, UAE Shit%u014d-ry%u016b, Karate Federation (2014 %u2013 Present) was the chief guest of this event. He urged the students to excel in sports and to enhance their contributions to the nation and the institution. In his special address, Dr. R. Mohanakrishnan, Director of Sports, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, provided a concise overview of the records achieved by our students and inspired them to participate in the upcoming Olympics. Around 300 students, comprising both male and female participants, were engaged actively in the event. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship among the participants while providing them with a platform to exhibit their skills and techniques in Karate. The event concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. T. Thenmozhi, Physical Director, Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM IST, Vadapalani, Chennai.
