                                    Future Ready: AI Awareness for School ChildrenOne-Day Workshop on %u201cFrench Language with AI%u201dSTAFF WRITERThe Department of Computational Intelligence, SRMIST, SRMIST ACM SIGAI Student Chapter and NSS-SRMIST Unit 3 School of Computing, organized an outreach initiative titled %u201cFuture Ready: AI Awareness for School Children%u201d at Gnanodaya High School, ( An NGO- based educational institution for children from families impacted by leprosy) Chengalpattu in the second fortnight of November 2025. The session aimed at introducing young students to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, its real-world applications, and its growing impact on modern society. Through interactive demonstrations and engaging activities, the programme helped nurture curiosity and encourage students to explore AI with confidence and enthusiasm. This initiative reflects our institution%u2019s commitment to community engagement and educational empowerment. By taking AI literacy to school campuses, we aspire to prepare the next generation for an increasingly technology-driven world while fostering responsible and informed digital citizenship. We extend our appreciation to all faculty members, student volunteers, and coordinators who contributed to the success of this outreach programme.STAFF WRITERThe Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Duraisamy, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities. In his address, he highlighted the importance of integrating language learning with Artificial Intelligence. The Felicitation Address was delivered by Dr. Albert Antony Raj, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities. He remarked that students are very enthusiastic about learning the French language with the support of Artificial Intelligence. The Chief Guest of the workshop was Dr. Thirumurugan, Professor, Department of French, Pondicherry University. Before his address, he was honored with a memento as a token of appreciation. The introduction of the chief guest was delivered by Ms. Divyanshi, President of the Zephyr Club.During the event, the Department of French honored students who secured an %u201cO%u201d grade in the University Examination in French. The students received medals and certificates of appreciation from the chief guest and expressed great happiness and pride in their achievement.In his Inaugural Address, Dr. Thirumurugan spoke extensively about the theme %u201cFrench Language with AI.%u201d He explained how Artificial Intelligence tools are becoming increasingly useful in many areas of life, helping people work more efficiently and learn new skillsHe also discussed the advantages and limitations of AI. While AI can save time, increase productivity, and provide quick access to information, it also has certain drawbacks such as overdependence, privacy concerns, and the possibility of misinformation. Furthermore, he explained how AI tools can help in improving pronunciation and phonetics in language learning by providing instant feedback and helping learners practice regularly. During the session, he demonstrated several AI tools useful for French learning such as Popplet, Padlet, and QuillBot Etc..,Civic participation is the pulse of a functioning democracySTAFF WRITERThe NSS Cell and Department of Social Work at SRMFSH, SRMISTKTR, demonstrated the power of academic institutions in driving social change on 24th March 2026.
