                                    STAFF WRITERThe SRM College of Nursing, under the auspices of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST), organized the Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the 34th batch of B.Sc. Nursing I year students and 33rd batch of DGNM students for the academic year 2025%u20132026. The event was held on 24.10.25 at the Hippocrates Auditorium, III Floor, SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (MCH & RC).The ceremony was presided over by Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRM IST, Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Pro%u2013Vice Chancellor (I/c) cum Dean (Medical), SRM MCH & RC, SRM IST, and graced by Dr. Judith Angelitta Noronha, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, who was the Chief Guest of the occasion.The Welcome Address and Honouring of the Chief Guest were delivered by Dr. R. Vijayalakshmi, Vice Principal, SRM College of Nursing, SRM IST.Mrs. Amudha Christinal, Chief Nursing Officer, SRM Global Hospital, delivered a meaningful address on the Significance of Lamp Lighting, emphasizing the values of compassion, integrity, and devotion in the nursing profession. Followed by the Florence Nightingale Pledge led by Mrs. Kavitha S., Chief Nursing Officer, SRM MCH & RC. The B.Sc. Nursing first-year students then presented a dedication song, reflecting their commitment to the noble ideals of nursing.The Felicitation segment included addresses by Dr. T. Mythili, Additional Registrar (MSL), SRM IST; Dr. V. P. Chandrasekaran, Chief Operating Officer and Emergency Medicine Advisor, SRM Global Hospital; and Dr. R. Venkatraman, Medical Superintendent, SRM MCH & RC.The Chief Guest, Dr. Judith Angelitta Noronha, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing MAHE, Manipal in her address, inspired the students to uphold professional ethics and compassionate care in their future careers. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, who emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and empathy in the nursing profession. The ceremony concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by, Dr.Kalavalli. M, Professor, SRM College of Nursing, followed by the National Anthem and the programme ended with Recession.
