International Women%u2019s Day Celebration %u2013 SIGNORA 2026STAFF WRITERSRM Institute of Science and Technology, FET, Vadapalani Campus celebrated International Women%u2019s Day %u2013 SIGNORA 2026 with great enthusiasm under the inspiring theme %u201cGive %u2022 Grow %u2022 Glow.%u201d The event recognized and celebrated the achievements, strength, and contributions of women across diverse fields.The celebration was graced by Chief Guest Ms.Ashwini Kanakath and Celebrity Guest Nithyasree Venkatramanan, whose inspiring words and performances energized the gathering.The program commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. A. Shirly Edward, followed by an address from Dr.Gomathy Chidambaram, VP (Academics & Placements), who highlighted the importance of empowering women through education and opportunities. Harini Ravi, Director %u2013 Institutional Development, encouraged women to pursue their dreams with resilience and determination, while Ms.Padmapriya R, Managing Director, SRM PR Group, emphasized celebrating women%u2019s achievements and promoting gender equality.Honouring Women AchieversA special segment of the celebration was dedicated to honoring women achievers from different professions for their dedication, integrity, and service to society.Mrs. S. Selvi Anna Bai, Headmistress of Kaveri High School, was honoured for her outstanding contribution to education.Ms. Durga P. D., Traffic Police Officer, was appreciated for her sincere service in regulating traffic and ensuring commuter safety.In the healthcare sector, Ms. Vidhya V., Assistant Nursing Superintendent at SRM Institutes for Medical Science (SIMS), was recognized for her leadership and compassionate patient care.Ms. Zeenath H., Nursing Assistant at SIMS, was appreciated for her attentive service and support to both patients and the medical team.Ms. R. J. Miruthula, Radio Jockey at Big FM, was recognized for spreading positivity and engaging listeners through her energetic voice and presence.A special recognition was given to Ms. Padma S, a sanitation worker at Urbaser Sumeet, Chennai, for her remarkable honesty in returning 45 sovereigns of gold worth approximately ` 45 lakh that she found during her duty %u2014 a gesture widely appreciated across the state.Women auto drivers Ms. Nirmala S. and Ms. Veerammal S. from Nura Electric Mobility were also honoured for confidently working in the transportation sector and inspiring more women to enter diverse professions.The event also included heartfelt appreciation for the housekeeping staff from SRM Vadapalani and SRM Ekattuthangal campuses, recognizing their sincere service and dedication in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across the campus.International Conference on Business, Finance and Economics at SRMISTSTAFF WRITERSRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, under the Faculty of Science and Humanities, successfully organized a two-day International Conference titled %u201cBusiness, Finance 2026 and Economics.%u201d The conference was jointly conducted by the Departments of Corporate Secretaryship, Commerce, Accounting & Finance, and Economics. The event served as a significant platform to discuss India%u2019s role in the global economy, attracting more than 600 participants. The conference commenced on March 3, with a welcome address by Dr. K. Selvasundaram, Professor, Department of Commerce. Dr. A. Duraisamy, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. S. Albert Antony Raj, Vice Dean, honored the distinguished guests.Dr. R. Vaidyanathan, Professor of Finance at IIM Bangalore, delivered the keynote address, highlighting India%u2019s stable GDP growth and the impact of digitalization. He emphasized that India%u2019s economic recovery stands as a model among G20 nations. Dr. Shankar Venugopal, Vice President of Tech Mahindra, stressed the importance of collaboration between industry and academia. Mr. Mohamed Uvasi, Financial Consultant from Sri Lanka, and Mr. Gabriel from Malta, spoke on the importance of the green economy.Global Trade EnvironmentA panel discussion on %u201cGlobal Trade Environment and Its Impact on the Indian Economy,%u201d coordinated by Mr. A.T. Ansari, was a major highlight of the conference. Key speakers included:%u2022 Dr. Diana Ann Eason %u2013 discussed the impact of FDI and FII %u2022 Dr. Jayanthi %u2013 explained geopolitical economics and agriculture %u2022 Dr. Akshatha Kumar %u2013 spoke on domestic industrial growth data %u2022 Dr. Henry Ruben %u2013 highlighted changes in imports and exports Vision of a Trillion-Dollar EconomyThe valedictory session on the second day began with a welcome address by Dr. R. Angayarkanni. Dr. S. Albert Antony Raj elaborated, with statistical insights, on how digital technology has simplified human life. The chief guest, Dr. P. Kanagasabapathi, Former Chairman of ICSSR, delivered an inspiring speech on India%u2019s 75-year journey since independence and its emergence as a trillion-dollar economy. He also emphasized the importance of small-scale industries and entrepreneurship.Around 235 research papers were submitted from across Tamil Nadu and India during the twoday conference. The conference report was presented by Dr. R. Sridharan, Head of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. A.
