Japanese Language Centre at SRM Institute of Science and Technology to Create New Academic and Career Pathways STAFF WRITERThe Inauguration Ceremony of the Japanese Language Centre was successfully held on 1st December 2025 in the presence of distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. The event commenced with the arrival and reception of dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in strengthening Japanese language education and cultural exchange at SRM Institute of Science and Technology.The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and invocation, symbolizing knowledge and unity. This was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. L. Kavitha Nair, Head of the Department of Language, Culture and Society, who highlighted the vision and purpose behind establishing the centre.A detailed presentation on Japanese Language Studies was delivered by Ms. P. R. Rekhaa, Assistant Professor of Japanese Language, LCS. She provided an overview of the curriculum, the future initiatives of the Japanese Language Centre, and the opportunities available for students.The Presidential Address was delivered by Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Hon%u2019ble Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, who emphasized the importance of global language education and collaboration with Japanese institutions. This was followed by the formal introduction of the Chief Guest by Mr. Vijaya Kumar and Ms. Ritu, Assistant Professors of Japanese Language. The Special Address was delivered by Prof. Ashok Kumar Chawla, Former Advisor (Japan), Ministry of External Affairs, who spoke on India%u2013Japan relations and future opportunities for students. He appreciated SRMIST%u2019s initiative and emphasized the relevance of cross-cultural learning. Further, Mr. Masahiro Todokoro, Managing Director, Kyosan India Pvt. Ltd., shared insights on industry expectations and the importance of skill development. Following the speeches, students presented cultural performances, showcasing their interest in Japanese language and culture. The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. V. Sundravalli, Assistant Professor of Japanese Language, LCS, followed by the National Anthem. The programme ended with refreshments and an interaction session among the guests, faculty members, and students.International Conference on Differential Equations: Theory, Modelling & Computing (ICDETMC 2026)STAFF WRITERThe Department of Mathematics, College of Engineering and Technology, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, successfully organized the International Conference on Differential Equations: Theory, Modelling & Computing (ICDETMC 2026) during 27%u201329 January 2026.The inaugural session was held on 27 January 2026 at Mini Hall 1, Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium. The welcome address was delivered by our beloved Head of the Department, Dr. Ritesh Kumar Dubey. Prof. A. Vinay Kumar, the Honourable Pro ViceChancellor of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, Management & Law at SRMIST, delivered the Presidential address. The inaugural function was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. G. P. Raja Sekhar, Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, whose address inspired participants and emphasized the importance of mathematical modelling and computational approaches in modern research.Over the three days, the conference featured invited talks, parallel technical sessions, and interactive discussions and paper presentations across multiple venues. Eminent speakers from premier institutions such as IISc, IITs, IISERs, TIFR, Stanford University %u2013 USA, University College %u2013 London - UK, Stellenbosch University - South Africa , University of Stuttgart - Germany, National Taiwan University - Taiwan, and other reputed universities shared their expertise on diverse themes including numerical methods, fractional differential equations, multiscale modelling, fluid dynamics, stochastic systems, and real-world applications.The paper presentations spanned a diverse range of research areas, showcasing the applications of mathematics and modeling in realworld scenarios. Topics included landscape ecology modeling using graph theory, water-quality assessment, media awareness impact models, and quantum-enhanced frameworks for IoT vehicles, among others.On the second day, following a rigorous morning of mathematical sessions, the participants embarked on a special excursion to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its shore temples and exquisite rock-cut sculptures. This culturally enriching outing fostered informal interactions and networking, culminating in a banquet dinner by the seaside.STAFF WRITERThe Eye Screening and Health Awareness Program was conducted at First Step Special School, Maraimalai Nagar, on 16th February 2026 with a primary focus on the early detection of vision problems among children with special needs.The program facilitated the early identification of eye-related health issues among the special children and ensured timely medical guidance and appropriate treatment referrals.
