A significant highlight of the event was the panel presentation by Prof. (Dr.) Helen Shaji, J.C., Dean, SRM College of Nursing, titled Demand for Healthcare Professionals %u2013 Upscaling and Upskilling Caregivers to Enhance Livelihood. The presentation addressed the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals and emphasized the role of structured education, training, and capacity building in strengthening the caregiving workforce. It also underscored the social and economic impact of caregiver upskilling initiatives in improving healthcare access and livelihood opportunities.STAFF WRITERStudents from SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) are making their presence felt on the international academic stage by participating in the 2026 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)%u2014a prestigious global competition that attracts thousands of undergraduate teams from leading universities worldwide.Organised by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP), USA, the MCM challenges students to solve open-ended, real-world problems using mathematical modeling, data analytics, and critical thinking. The intensive fourday contest was held from January 29 to February 2, 2026, pushing participants to apply interdisciplinary knowledge under strict time constraints.In the previous contest cycle (2025), the MCM/ICM competitions recorded participation from over 27,000 teams globally, representing institutions across dozens of countries and regions%u2014underscoring the contest%u2019s stature and its growing relevance in the international academic community.Highlighting the institution%u2019s academic philosophy, Dr. C. Ms. Ismathbanu,an acclaimed actress, was the judge for the online events. The programme was graced with a Welcome Address by Mr. Jamesraaj, Head of the Department, and was organised by Dr. Vetriselvi G., IIC Coordinator, who also delivered a heartfelt Vote of Thanks in conclusion.
