SRMIST Women%u2019s Cricket Team Clinches Gold at the Padma Shri Mohanmull Chordia Gold Cup T20 TournamentSTAFF WRITERThe SRMIST Women%u2019s Cricket Team has emerged victorious, winning the GOLD Medal at the Padma Shri Mohanmull Chordia Gold Cup T20 State-Level Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament held at Agurchand Manmull Jain College, Chennai, on March 20th, 21st, and 27th, 2025. Paarivendhar, Founder and Chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), upon being conferred the Honorary Fellowship from the International College of Dentistry (ICD) Section VI (India, Sri Lanka & Nepal). This distinguished fellowship, rarely awarded to non-dentists or non-medical professionals, honours Dr. Paarivendhar%u2019s outstanding contributions to education and healthcare delivery. Dr. Paarivendhar was recognised during ICD%u2019s annual meeting and convocation, held at SRMIST in Kattankulathur, in collaboration with SRM Kattankulathur Dental College and Hospital. The Honorary Fellowship was presented by ICD%u2019s Global President, Dr. Ian M. Doyle, and ICD Section VI President, Dr. Meera Verma, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries.In his acceptance speech, Dr. Paarivendhar highlighted the profound impact of dentistry, stating that it helps individuals walk upright, speak clearly, and laugh with confidence. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to ICD for honouring him with this recognition, acknowledging his contributions as a non-medical professional. Dr. Paarivendhar also emphasised the humanitarian initiatives at SRM Kattankulathur Dental College, where free dental care is provided to the underprivileged. R. PaarivendharThe event, celebrating women and honoring the visually impaired, commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by an inspiring address from Prof. T. Lakshmanan on the resilience of visually impaired individuals. A mesmerizing Bharatanatyam performance added to the cultural vibrancy. Chief Guest Dr. Helen Shaji J.C. highlighted the importance of NSS activities, while Dr. Sangeetha M. engaged in a heartfelt conversation with 18 visually impaired attendees, who shared their inspiring journeys. SRMIST extended its support by distributing dry ration supplies. The audience was captivated by soulful songs, meaningful proverbs, and a high-energy dance performance. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. V. Prakash and a delightful lunch for Visually Impaired persons. The event was a resounding success, celebrating empowerment, resilience, and cultural expression.
