                                    SRM School of Law conducts the sixth National Tamil Moot Court CompetitionSTAFF WRITERThe Sixth Annual National Level Tamil Moot Court Competition, held from April 8th to 10th, 2025. The event, hosted at the Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium, SRM Institute of Science & Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur.The three-day national-level competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and rigorous legal argumentation, effectively highlighting the richness and efficacy of Tamil as a language of legal discourse.The competition was formally inaugurated on April 8th in a distinguished ceremony. The Honourable Justice D. Hariparanthaman, Retired Judge of the Madras High Court, graced the occasion and delivered an insightful address emphasising the significance and eminence of the Tamil language, referencing its importance within the framework of the Indian Constitution. Adding further gravitas, the Honourable Justice A.A. Nakkiran, Judge of the Madras High Court, expounded on the critical aspects of freedom of speech and expression. Dr. G. Jaya Gowri, Principal of Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Pudupakkam, attended as the Chief Guest and commended SRM School of Law for its proactive role in organising such a prestigious Tamil Moot Court Competition.The semi-final rounds witnessed fierce competition among the final four teams, judged by a panel of six legal experts, including judges from the small causes court. The valedictory ceremony, was graced by the presence of esteemed legal luminaries: Mr A.R.L Sundharesan, Senior Advocate and Additional Solicitor General of Madras High Court; Dr M. Rajeswaran, Principal, Government Law College Trichy; Dr S Murugesan, Principal, Government Law College Karaikudi; Mr M. Bhaskar, Advocate; and Mrs. Adhi Lakshmi Logamurthy, Advocate and Social Activist.Dr. Mohanakrishnan of SRMIST Honored with SDG Impact Award for Promoting Peace through SportsSTAFF WRITERDr. Mohanakrishnan, an esteemed academic from SRM Institute of Science and Technology, was honored with the prestigious SDG Impact Award for his groundbreaking contributions to peacebuilding through sports. The award was presented by the Sustainable Development Council (SDC) during the South Asia Summit on Education for Peace (SASEP) at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, on 24 March 2025. The SDG Impact Award celebrates individuals and organizations making significant strides toward advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Mohanakrishnan received the award in recognition of his exceptional efforts to use sports as a vehicle for promoting peace, fostering social cohesion, and empowering youth. His work exemplifies the intersection of education, sports, and peacebuilding, demonstrating the transformative power of sports in addressing global challenges. The award was presented by Dr. Kamaleswaran Jayarajah from the Secretariat of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).
