                                    STAFF WRITERThe Department of Mathematics in association with the Directorate of Alumni Affairs organised an Alumni talk on 29th April 2025. Mr. Gokulakrishnan Ayyappan [M.Sc., Mathematics %u2013 2021-23 Batch], who is working as Programmer Analyst in Zifo Technologies, was invited to deliver a talk on %u201cBeyond the Blackboard: Applying Math in the World of Biostatistics%u201d. All B.Sc. and M.Sc., Mathematics students, Research Scholars and faculties of Mathematics Department attended the program. The event was hosted by Dr. G. Sheeja, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, SRMIST. Dr. G. Sheeja, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, SRMIST, welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker and shared the experience with the speaker. Dr. L. S. Senthil Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, SRMIST, shared his experiences with the speaker as his Class In charge during his stay in SRMIST. He elaborated on the current trends in the clinical research and quantum computing techniques in the field of Biostatistics. He then explored and showcased the real-time applications of mathematics in trending fields like Cryptography, Cybersecurity and Data Science. The speaker quoted on the skills and tools required to excel in these fields and how to gain them. He also gave tips for aspiring professionals. Mrs. Radha Ravindran, Assistant Director, Directorate of Alumni Affairs, presided over the event and delivered valedictory remarks. She encouraged all the UG/PG students to actively involve in the placement activities at SRMIST and the department to conduct more such event. She thanked the speaker and presented him with a memento. The program concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. G. Ramesh, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, SRMIST.Dept. of Mathematics oraganised Alumuni TalkSTAFF WRITER%u2018Go Extra Mile%u2019 (G.E.M.) is the flagship outreach initiative by the Faculty of Management, SRMIST that connects with communities both inside and outside SRMIST through three distinct verticals %u2013 (1) Sishya Sanyog (Inter-departmental student driven collaborative program) (2) Sthree (Program aimed at women empowerment) (3) Sahyog (Studentdriven Outreach program for Community engagement and development).In alignment with the vision and mission of GEM- Sahyog and to celebrate the spirit of International Education Day 2025, a workshop on %u2018Effective Digital Learning for Government school students%u2019 in association with Evergrowth Academy, was conducted for the 6th and 7th class students at Chettipunniyam Government School on Friday, 31.01.2025. The activities taken up were in alignment with SDG4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17(Partnerships for the goals) 29 students in total (3 from BBA and 23 from MBA) conducted several activities for the students, with guidance from G.E.M. Coordinator %u2013 Dr. Nagalakshmi M.V.N. SRMIST FoM outreach initative for Governement SchoolSTAFF WRITERSRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) successfully conducted a Road Safety Awareness Initiative to educate students on road safety, responsible commuting, and adherence to traffic regulations. The program aimed to minimize road accidents by instilling safe driving, cycling, and pedestrian habits among participants.Objective of the Initiative The primary goals of the initiative were:To create awareness about traffic rules and safety regulations.To encourage responsible road behavior among students.To reduce road accidents through education and awareness programs.Student Participation and Faculty InvolvementThe initiative saw active participation from NSS course students, with faculty members playing a pivotal role in guiding and mentoring the participants. Through interactive sessions, students gained valuable insights into road safety measures, risk factors, and best practices for ensuring safe travel. Faculty Coordinators : Dr. Usha K (Course Coordinator): Supervised the initiative, ensuring meaningful learning experiences for students. Course Faculty Members: Provided continuous support and mentorship throughout the program.The Road Safety Awareness Initiative at SRMIST stands as a significant step in promoting a culture of road safety, responsibility, and awareness among students and faculty. Through interactive discussions and expert-led sessions, SRMIST Organizes Road Safety Awareness Initiativeparticipants gained essential knowledge to ensure safer roads and responsible commuting.
