18th edition of Aaruush at SRMIST sets new benchmarks in Technology & InnovationSTAFF WRITERThe 18th edition of Aaruush, an international techno-management festival, recently took place at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST). Over four dynamic days, the event was inaugurated by Mr. Anand Mohanram, Managing Director of Mr. Cooper India, with Mr. Prasanna Lohar, Dr. S. Ponnusamy %u2013 Registrar of SRMIST, and Dr. A. Rathinam %u2013 Convenor of Aaruush, gracing the event. With over 100 events, 90+ competing teams, and 15 major flagship activities, this year%u2019s Aaruush surpassed expectations. Notably, the festival earned a place in the International Book of Records for hosting the Largest Space Exploration Lesson, attended by over 800 participants. The fest saw a footfall of 65,000+ attendees across its wide range of events, with 500+ students from 210 universities and colleges engaging in a variety of technical and domain-specific activities. In addition to the festival%u2019s main events, the SRM Global Tech Conclave provided a platform for alumni leaders across industries to address and inspire the student audience. The theme of Aaruush this year, %u201cHarmonizing Holistic Well-being through Technology,%u201d was aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), underscoring the festival%u2019s commitment to fostering innovation for social impact. Mr. Anand Mohanram delivered an insightful address, highlighting the importance of leveraging technology and the need for continuous learning and adaptability in today%u2019s rapidly evolving landscape. He emphasised the role of compliance and accurate data referencing, particularly in industries such as finance and data management. Delving into the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), he outlined how these technologies are not just revolutionizing user-facing innovations but also transforming the core data infrastructure of industries. Mr. Prasanna Lohar shared his perspective on India%u2019s growing role as a global hub for innovation, reflecting on the country%u2019s advancements in emerging technologies. Drawing from his experiences in banking and finance, he spoke about the rapid evolution of AI, cloud computing, and quantum blockchain, noting that new technologies are reshaping industries every five years. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration and acquiring industry-relevant skills to stay competitive in an increasingly technologydriven world.SRMIST Signs MoU with Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), BangaloreSTAFF WRITERThe Department of Computing Technologies, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Bangalore. This strategic collaboration aims to foster research, development, and skill enhancement in emerging technologies, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.The MoU establishes a framework for joint research in advanced fields such as High-Performance Computing, Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security. It also paves the way for skill development through specialised training programmes, workshops, and seminars, enhancing technical expertise among students and faculty. Through this partnership, SRMIST and C-DAC will collaborate on innovative projects, submit joint research proposals for funding, and work together to develop healthcare technologies and solutions for societal benefit. The agreement also emphasises industry-academia integration through internships, industry visits, and real-world project opportunities, ensuring students gain practical insights and hands-on experience.
