SRMCAS Hosts 4th Students Club to Empower Student Leadership and EngagementSRMIST%u2019s Exemplary Achievement with 5th Nova World Record in Ball BadmintonSTAFF WRITERThe SRM College of Agricultural Sciences (SRMCAS), under the aegis of the Centre for Students Welfare (CSW), marked a new chapter in student engagement with the grand %u20184th Students Club at the vibrant SRMCAS Amphitheatre. The newly launched student body is structured around five flagship groups: ARJUNA, SHAITYA, UTSAV, AVINYA, and SWARA. Together, these groups encompass 20 specialised clubs that cater to a wide range of student interests%u2014from Sports, Debating, Media & Technology, and Creative Arts to Nature Conservation, Social Service, Women Empowerment, and beyond. Whether it%u2019s the %u2018Agpreun Club%u2019 nurturing future agri-entrepreneurs or the %u2018Tamil Ilakkiya Mandram%u2019 preserving cultural heritage, each club is designed to nurture talent, encourage dialogue, and instill a strong sense of community.Nurturing Future LeadersIn a bid to ensure vibrant and accountable student leadership, the CSW, in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs, conducted personal interviews to identify and appoint Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Convenors, and Co-Convenors. These student leaders will spearhead club initiatives, act as change-makers, and enhance the SRMCAS campus culture. The event unfolded with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Angelin Silviya, CSW Coordinator, setting a gracious tone for the ceremony. The Chief Guest Address was delivered by Dr. M. Jawaharlal, Dean of SRMCAS, who officially introduced the newly appointed club bearers, celebrating their passion and dedication. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. B. Rex, CSW Coordinator, acknowledging the efforts of every individual behind the success of the event. Adding to the festive spirit were a series of captivating cultural performances by students - each a powerful reflection of the creativity and camaraderie that define SRMCAS.STAFF WRITERThe Directorate of Sports, (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, has attained its fifth Nova World Record in Ball Badminton (High Service). The event was held on February 27, 2025. This milestone reinforces SRMIST%u2019s legacy in sports and social awareness campaigns.The event was inaugurated by Registrar, Dr. S. Ponnusamy, along with the Chairman of St. Joseph Engineering College, Dr. B. Babu Manoharan, initiating the first high service. Over the next 25 hours, 282 ball badminton players executed high services reaching 20 metres to raise awareness about drug abuse prevention.SRMIST%u2019s Legacy of RecordsThis Ball Badminton Marathon is the latest in a series of Nova World Records by the Directorate Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. C. Muthamizhchelvan and Director, Directorate of Sports, Prof. R. Mohanakrishnan, cordially received the Nova World Record certificate from the CEO of Nova World Record, Mr. Rajkumar.of Sports, SRMIST:Longest Yoga Marathon %u2013 24-hour yoga performance by 84 students against drug abuse.Pledge Against Drugs %u2013 5,084 students took a pledge and joined a signature campaign. 10th International Yoga Day %u2013 520 students set a record for maximum Surya Namaskars.24-Hour Basketball Free Throws %u2013 85 students continuously performed free throws.STAFF WRITERThe Career Centre at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST-KTR) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Atos on 4th March 2025, marking the beginning of a groundbreaking collaboration designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry.Key Highlights of the MoU:Academic-Industry Synergy: S R M I S T %u2019 s e x p e r t i s e i n DevSecOps, IoT, and cuttingedge technologies will complement Atos%u2019 industry insights. Plans are underway to establish a Research Lab/ Centre of Excellence (CoE) focused on AI-driven automation, cybersecurity, software development, and cloud technologies.Research & Innovation: The partnership will set annual research goals, encouraging publications, patents, and technological breakthroughs.
