Workshop on %u201cThe Importance of Personal Branding to Face Interviews%u201d STAFF WRITERThe Department of English and the Career Development Cell at SRM IST, Faculty of Science and Humanities, Vadapalani campus successfully organized an insightful workshop on personal branding for interviews. Dr. Swati Patil, HR Director at Hogarth, Chennai, shared valuable insights on self-awareness, communication, professional etiquette and online presence, empowering students with strategies to enhance their employability.The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participation from B.Sc. Computer Science and BCA students. This impactful session equipped students with essential skills to build a strong professional identity and stand out in interviews!STAFF WRITERDemonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability, students of SRM University, along with faculty and hostel wardens, planted 250 saplings in the playground of the Government School in Anjur village. The initiative was organized under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), a national program aimed at rural development.The plantation drive took place from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with active participation from 67 students of Pierre Fauchard Hostel, SROs, faculty members, and hostel wardens. Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (CL) and UBA Nodal Officer, spearheaded the event, while Dr. Shakti Prasad, Warden of Pierre Fauchard Hostel, coordinated the arrangements.During the event, participants took a pledge to protect the environment and ensure the well-being of the planted saplings. The drive concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Md. Shwahidul SRMIST Students Plant 250 Saplings in Anjur Village Government SchoolIslam, Head of the Department of Hindi.The initiative reflects SRM University%u2019s ongoing efforts to promote environmental consciousness and rural engagement, reinforcing the university%u2019s commitment to sustainable development.Beyond the Classroom: Real-World Leadership at the Officers Training AcademySTAFF WRITERThe students of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, SRM Faculty of Science and Humanities, SRM IST Chennai-KTR, gained unique insights into leadership and professional development by attending the OTA Passing Out Parade. Observing the culmination of years of rigorous training demonstrated the importance of continuous learning and dedication. This experience has broadened our students%u2019 understanding of leadership principles and their application in high-stakes environments.STAFF WRITEROn 21st of March 2025, French Day, coinciding with the International Francophonie Day%u2014a day dedicated to honouring the richness of the French language and the vibrant cultures that unite more than 300 million Francophones across the world was organised by Department of French, Faculty of Science and Humanities. The French Day Programme was celebrated with great enthusiasm, bringing -together students and faculty to appreciate the French language and culture. The event commenced with Tamizh Thai Vazhthu followed by Welcome address. Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities, Dr. S. Albert Antony Raj, gave the Presidential Address. He emphasized the importance of learning foreign languages and their role in broadening students%u2019 academic and career opportunities. Following this, the Inaugural Address was delivered by Dr. Marion Vercraene, Directrice of Lyc%u00e9e Fran%u00e7ais International, Chennai. She encouraged students to integrate French into their daily lives and explore new linguistic opportunities. She also highlighted the benefits of learning multiple languages in today%u2019s globalized world. The event recognized academic excellence by awarding prizes to first-year students who secured an %u201cO%u201d grade in their French examination, appreciating their dedication and achievement. Additionally, badges were handed over to new office bearers, marking the formal transition of leadership in the student community. A significant highlight of the programme was Dept. of French celebrates French day on International Francophonie Day a PowerPoint presentation by students, showcasing various countries and detailing their region, culture, language, and cuisine. This segment provided an engaging and informative experience for all attendees. The competition was judged by Ms. Abigail and Ms. Dhanya Jacob, who evaluated the presentations based on creativity, content, and presentation skills. Prizes were awarded to the winners, acknowledging their hard work and insightful presentations. The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing the importance of cultural exchange and linguistic diversity among students.
