STAFF WRITERAs part of the Swachh Bharat Mission %u2013 India Campaign, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), organized a Lake Surrounding Area Cleaning Activity near Potheri Lake, opposite the SRMIST Silver Jubilee Arch. Over 180 volunteers, including students, faculty, and staff, actively participated in the initiative.The drive was graced by Dr. V. Thirumurugan, Nodal Officer %u2013 UBA SRMIST and Associate Director %u2013 Campus Life, along with NCC and Navy officers and the MBA Green Club Coordinator, who inspired participants through their involvement. Ltd., and the Forest Department of Tamil Nadu. Coordinated by Dr. R. Nagalakshmi, the event was inaugurated by Dr. R.S. Kankara, Director, NCCR, and Pon Senthil, Ranger, Forest Coastal Security Group. Distinguished guests from OSI, NCCR, and NIOT emphasized the ecological value of mangroves.A total of 1,350 saplings were planted with active participation from students, faculty, environmental volunteers, and local communities. A highlight was the introduction of Bio-Roll technology by NEEDS NGO, promoting ecofriendly mangrove afforestation.
