SRM School of Law Conducts Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign and RallySTAFF WRITERThe SRM School of Law, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, successfully conducted a two-day Anti-Ragging and Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign and Rally on 11th and 12th August 2025, coinciding with International Anti-Ragging Day. The initiative highlighted SRMIST%u2019s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful campus environment while emphasizing dignity, empathy, and responsibility among students and faculty.The first day featured symbolic and interactive activities, including the creation of a thumbprint tree artwork %u2014 a handmade painting representing collective pledges toward a ragging-free and drug-free campus. The campaign was inaugurated by Prof. Vinay Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (SBL), and Prof. P. Sree Sudha, Dean, School of Law. Students and faculty enthusiastically added their thumbprints and signatures, later displayed as a permanent symbol of unity. A class-to-class awareness drive followed, where students took a collective pledge, amplifying the campaign%u2019s impact. On Day 2, a spirited Rally for Respect and Responsibility was flagged off by Prof. Vinay Kumar in the presence of Prof. Sree Sudha. The rally began at the School of Law and passed through key campus landmarks, with participants carrying banners and chanting slogans such as %u201cBreak the silence, stop the violence!%u201d and %u201cDrop drugs, not dreams!%u201d The event culminated with a photo session symbolizing unity and commitment.SRM Muthucharam Community Radio Celebrates National Broadcasting Day in Kolathur VillageSTAFF WRITERSRM Muthucharam Community Radio, in collaboration with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, proudly celebrated National Broadcasting Day on July 23, 2025, at Panchayat Union Middle School in Kolathur Village. The event honored the legacy of radio broadcasting in India and highlighted its enduring relevance in education, communication, and rural development.The celebration began with a welcome address by Dr. T. Kalaivani, Station Manager of SRM Muthucharam Community Radio, who highlighted the critical role of radio in grassroots engagement.Distinguished speakers from SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur, delivered engaging and thought-provoking talks:%u2022 Dr. Annapurani Panaiyappan, Professor & Head, Department of Networking & Communications, spoke on %u201cNational Broadcasting and Its Importance.%u201d%u201cBroadcasting is not just about transmitting content. It is about shaping an informed society where voices from all corners are heard and valued.%u201d%u2022 Dr. S. Balamurugan, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, discussed %u201cRural Empowerment through Radio.%u201d%u201cRadio enables rural communities to become active participants in development%u2014not just passive listeners. It builds confidence and awareness.%u201d%u2022 Dr. P. Susai Manickam, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering, delivered a talk on %u201cRadio in Daily Life.%u201dStudent Reflections: Prior to the main event, a speech competition on %u201cImportance of Radio%u201d was held for school students, judged by SRMIST faculty and school teachers.Student from Class 8, said: %u201cI was nervous to speak, but once I started, it felt like the whole community was listening to me. It gave me confidence.%u201dA Class 7 student, added: %u201cI once listened to a lesson on the radio. Today, I spoke about it and even won a prize!%u201dMr. B.R. Rajan, Headmaster of the school, appreciated the initiative: %u201cThis program was a turning point for our students.
